Ohlone College's Deaf Studies Division is one of the most influential and comprehensive of its kind, with a multiplicity of programs, courses, and opportunities for deaf and hearing students, including those pursuing interpreting careers. It was founded by a Deaf teacher, George Attletweed, in 1972, and boasts an outstanding Deaf and hearing faculty. The DSD has grown and evolved dramatically over the years. In 2010, the Evelyn Henderson Deaf Studies Lab opened. Last year, the Language & Culture Center for Deaf Studies opened. As for the DSD's future, it looks bright.
