The venerable Pennsylvania School for the Deaf is the nation's third-oldest such school (following ASD and Fanwood). Dr. Larry Taub has just started his stint as PSD's second Deaf superintendent (Laurent Clerc, who served 7-month stint in 1821-22, being the first). He succeeds Dr. Joe Fischgrund, who plans to maintain close ties with PSD and the Deaf community of Philadelphia. This issue includes a historical overview. We salute Dr. Fischgrund and welcome Dr. Taub.
